Terengganu sink Aussie club Mariners in AFC Cup

KUALA LUMPUR: Terengganu got off to a bright start in the AFC Cup by beating Australia's Central Coast Mariners 1-0 in Group G at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium today.

And the lucky Turtles didn't even have to score any goal.

Mariners shot themselves in the foot with an own goal from Nathan Paull in the 45th minute.

Terengganu, with Sony Norde and Ivan Mamut leading the attack, fought toe-to-toe against the Australian side.

Terengganu custodian Suhaimi Husin was also in his element to deny the Mariners with several excellent saves.

The deadlock was finally broken when Paull turned in a cross from Terengganu's Uzbek midfielder Nurillo Tukhtasinov past his own goalkeeper Danny Vukovic.
