Coach is frustrated that Turtles let Aussies get away

KUALA LUMPUR: It was a result that many Malaysian teams would be proud of, holding an Australian side to a draw Down Under.

But not Terengganu coach Tomislav Steinbruckner.

The Croatian wasn't satisfied. He felt Terengganu should have beaten Central Coast Mariners in Gosford in an AFC Cup match on Wednesday instead of a 1-1 draw.

The Turtles were only three minutes away from an incredible victory before Di Pizio equalised for Mariners in the 87th minute.

Steinbruckner said initially his team's objective was to get a point against the 2022-23 A-League runners-up.

"But after the match, I wasn't satisfied when Mariners equalised. Otherwise we would have brought home three points," he said.

"But I'm proud of how we played there because we lacked defenders due to injuries. We did a good job in Australia."
