Selangor player Yazan in trouble for kicking referee

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor centreback Yazan Al-Arab is in hot water after he was seen kicking referee Hasrol Amir after the Malaysia Cup quarter-final second leg against Terengganu on Sunday.

The Red Giants were eliminated after losing 3-1 on aggregate after a 1-1 draw in the second leg.

FAM secretary general Noor Azman Rahman said they are gathering reports on the incident to be sent to the FAM disciplinary committee.

Azman said Jordanian Yazan should have controlled his emotions better.

"Based on early observation, there was physical contact with the referee," said Azman.

"For now, we can't announce the punishment that the player will receive. We will leave it to the disciplinary committee which could meet as soon as next week.

"As a professional, this kind of incident shouldn't occur. Players should use the proper channels to complain," said Azman.

Selangor coach Tan Cheng Hoe declined to comment on Yazan's action.

He only said: "Credit to Terengganu for defending. We know this is a lesson learnt, it's a sad day for the team because we didn't progress."
