QPR's home renamed as Matrade Loftus Road Stadium

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) has signed a three-year deal with English football club Queens Park Rangers that will see the latter's home renamed as Matrade Loftus Road Stadium.

QPR said in a statement on Thursday that their partnership with the national trade promotion agency under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (Miti), will elevate their brand's visibility.

QPR chief executive officer Lee Hoos said they are delighted with the agreement.

"This club is always looking at ways to increase our portfolio of partners," said Hoos.

"This decision to render the naming rights of the stadium is made with the commercial interests of the club at heart and we look forward to working with Matrade."

QPR co-owner Ruben Gnanalingam also sits on the board at Matrade.

Meanwhile, Matrade chairman Reezal Merican Naina Merican said: "When I initiated the proposal for Matrade to rebrand itself after 30 years of its establishment, I saw that the new naming rights partnership was an opportunity for Matrade to elevate our brand visibility on the international scene.

"By leveraging QPR's long-standing history in English football, Matrade will be able to enhance its global recognition as a trusted agency to connect trade between our two countries.

"We look forward to a successful partnership with QPR."

QPR are currently in 23rd position out of 24 teams in the English Championship.
