Bahrain coach anticipates tough game against Harimau Malaya

DOHA: Bahrain coach Juan Antonio Pizzi did not want to reveal much during the press conference today as the Dilmun Warriors face Malaysia in a crucial Asian Cup Group E match tomorrow.

All the Argentine coach said was they have analysed Harimau Malaya's last two matches — a 2-2 draw against Syria (friendly) and a 4-0 defeat to Jordan (Asian Cup) — to prepare for the match.

"We have analysed the Malaysian team. Based on that, I believe it will not be easy against Kim Pan Gon's side," said Pizzi.

"We respect all of our opponents and will give our best to beat Malaysia.

Bahrain need a win over Malaysia to remain in the hunt for a last-16 spot after their 3-1 defeat to world No. 23 South Korea on Monday.

Bahrain will have to reshuffle their defence in the absence of centre-back Amine Bennadi, whose inclusion has been rejected by the Asian Football Confederation.

Pizzi was also pressed on his midfielders for their subdued performance against South Korea

"Our midfielders performed well against Korea. It remains our strongest department," Pizzi added.
