Harimau Malaya opt for five-man defence against Bahrain

DOHA: National coach Kim Pan Gon has opted a defensive line up for the today's Asian Cup Group E match against Bahrain here.

The South Korean has named a five-man defence, comprising Shahrul Saad, Dominic Tan, captain Matthew Davies, Dion Cools and La'Vere Corbin-Ong.

Goalkeeper Ahmad Syihan Hazmi has been retained.

Among those dropped to the bench are forwards Romel Morales and Darren Lok, as well as midfielder Afiq Fazai, all of whom played in Malaysia's 4-0 defeat to Jordan on Monday.

Paulo Josue leads the strikeforce with Faisal Halim and Arif Aiman Hanapi on the flanks.

Syamer Kutty Abba and Stuart Wilkin have been assigned in the middle of the park

With this lineup, Pan Gon will have the freedom to switch his formation from 5-4-1 to 3-4-3 during the game.
