South Korea coach Klinsmann wary of Malaysia's K-connection

DOHA: Jurgen Klinsmann, who won the World Cup as a striker for Germany in 1990, is plotting the downfall of Malaysia tomorrow.

Klinsmann said today in a press conference he respects his opponents, and that include Malaysia.

His World No. 23 South Korea will meet world No. 130 Malaysia in their last Group E match at Al Janoub Stadium.

South Korea, woh are tied with Jordan on four points, need to beat Malaysia by a big margin if they are to emerge as group winners.

On Malaysia, Klinsmann talked about the K-connection, meaning Harimau Malaya are led by a Korean coach in Kim Pan Gon.

Klinsmann said he is aware of Pan Gon's reputation, and it could be an advantage for Malaysia as Pan Gon is familiar with the Taegeuk Warriors.

"Malaysia have made tremendous strides from game one (after the 4-0 loss to Jordan).

"Malaysia were even with Bahrain but were unfortunate to lose in the last minute (1-0).

"Pan Gon knows these guys (South Korea national players) very very, very well and knows the team.

"He's well informed about us and that's good for him. We have to do our job and approach this the right way.

"We have to respect Malaysia, play hard, go into challenges right away and keep the tempo."

Klinsmann also talked about his star striker Son Heung Min's prowess and that Malaysia will make special plans to stop the Tottenham Hotspur striker.

"I think it's normal that Son will get special attention. Opponents will use two-three players to close him down because he will find the space and opportunity to score and assist.

"He knows when to move left or right, rotate and find space."
