KUALA LUMPUR: National team winger Faisal Halim has revealed what was actually said during his brief on-pitch discussion with South Korea captain Son Heung-min during their AFC Asian Cup clash earlier this week.
The duo were seen talking animatedly during the Group E encounter which ended in a 3-3 draw.
Faisal said Son argued that the tackle on Arif Aiman in the 57th minute did not warrant a penalty.
"He said it was not a penalty but I insisted that it was," said Faisal today.
"I said if you don't believe me, just wait and see (what the referee decides)."
The incident did result in a penalty after a video review. Arif slotted home from the spot to give Malaysia a 2-1 lead.
The match against South Korea was Malaysia's best performance in the Asian Cup.
The squad had lost 4-0 to Jordan and 1-0 to Bahrain in their other matches.
