KLFA vows never to be fooled again

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur FA (KLFA) has been fooled twice before, and they vowed there won't be a third time.

KLFA president Khalid Abdul Samad said yesterday they had changed their way of doing things, and are currently working on getting a new investor.

"Last time an investor came in and failed, and it was the same the second time. Now we're in negotiations with a third investor.

"We have a new method of doing things, which includes (an investor) having proof of funds of RM5 million in their account.

"We were desperate back then, which was why we placed a minimum proof of funds of RM1 million. We have learned (a lesson) and we strive to do better," said Khalid.

Meanwhile, the KL City team still owe their players and team officials RM2 million in salaries for last October and November.

This was confirmed by Khalid during a press conference yesterday. He said they are still waiting for the annual RM5 million grant from Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

The KL team need RM1 million monthly to cover their expenses, including salaries of players, coaching staff and officials.

Khalid said KLFA spends about RM14 million annually on its first team, Under-23, U-20, U-20 teams and KL Rovers.
