KUALA LUMPUR: Kedah Darul Aman FC team has been requested to submit additional information to the Malaysian Football League (MFL) before any decision is made regarding their participation status in the 2024-2025 Super League season.
MFL chief executive officer Datuk Stuart Ramalingam said additional information from Sang Kenari will be discussed in the quarterly meeting of the board of directors of the local football governing body on March 6.
He said the additional information was a follow-up action by the club from the north after the First Instance Body (FIB) gave them until March 5 to resolve the team's salary arrears issue.
"We will inform the media about Kedah's position after receiving additional information later," he said after the Road To Gold (RTG) committee meeting yesterday.
Kedah reportedly owes players' salary for four months since last season.
The MFL can take punitive action such as point deductions and deny the national license to compete in the Super League if the problem persists.
Previously, Melaka United FC, Sarawak United FC and Perak FC were subject to point deductions before the start of the season.
In the meantime, Stuart, who is also the RTG coordinator, said the interview session between FIB and representatives of the four M3 Amateur Football League (AFL) clubs that applied for an extraordinary license to participate in the 2024-2025 Super League competition scheduled to start on May 10, has been popstponed from this week to Monday (March 4) due to time constraint.
MFL re-opened the extraordinary license application for the M3 club in January following the decision of the FIB and the MFL Club Licensing Appeal Committee (AB) which rejected Kelantan FC's National License application to compete in the 2024-2025 Super League following financial problems.
The MFL will select only the best club that meets the set criteria to fill the 14th slot after the absence of Kelantan FC.
