A pitch-perfect promise for Harimau Malaya's World Cup qualifier

KAJANG: Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh exudes confidence in the Malaysian Stadium Corporation (MSC) to ensure the National Stadium field in Bukit Jalil is ready for Harimau Malaya's crucial World Cup qualifier against Oman on March 26.

Addressing the recent concerns raised by national coach Kim Pan Gon about the pitch condition, Yeoh assured reporters that MSC is actively working to ensure the field's quality meets international standards.

"The National Stadium is committed to the Harimau Malaya squad. The efforts made in the past few weeks were all for Harimau Malaya (so that they can perform well)," she said during the Women's Day celebrations and the launch of the Safe Sports Code video at Uniten today.

Expressing his disappointment with the National Stadium field condition after his visit on Thursday, Pan Gon emphasised the importance of a top-notch pitch for the team's success.

Meanwhile, Yeoh shed light on the significance of the Safe Sports Code video launch, featuring national gymnastics queen Farah Ann Abdul Hadi. This initiative aims to raise awareness and promote safe sports practices.

"The launch of the Safe Sports Code last year garnered commitment from over 1,000 parties, including sports associations, athletes, and various ministries. This awareness is crucial as creating a safe environment is a shared responsibility among all parties, including parents and schools," she added. --BERNAMA
