Oman are a mystery, says Harimau Malaya's Mukhairi

PETALING JAYA: Harimau Malaya do not have much information on Oman ahead of their World Cup qualifying matches against the Reds on March 21 and 26.

Oman fired Croatian Branko Ivankovic after their miserable outing at the recent Asian Cup and has since hired Jaroslav Silhavy, tasked to prepare the Reds for the World Cup qualifiers.

Harimau Malaya midfielder Mukhairi Ajmal Mahadi said: "We do not have much news on Oman. They might play a different brand of football under the new coach.

"We have to be ready for many possibilities when we face the Reds," said the 23-year-old, who was not part of the national team's campaign at the Asian Cup in Doha.

Teammate Stuart Wilkin hopes the coaching staff will help him regain his fitness, as his last competitive match was in the AFC Cup when Sabah took on Australian side Macarthur last month.

"The coaching staff are pushing us in training, helping us with fitness."

Malaysia are at the top of the Group D standings in the qualifiers with six points following victories over Kyrgyzstan (4-3) and Taiwan (1-0).
