Garrido to have another look at Malaysian team in second friendly against India

KUALA LUMPUR: The national Under-23 football team beat their counterparts from India 2-1 in an international friendly at KLFA Stadium on Friday.

And Spanish coach Juan Torres Garrido wants to assess his boys again on their match readiness when Malaysia meet India again on Monday.

In the first friendly, Malaysia scored through T. Saravanan (33rd minute) and Alif Zikri (48th) while India's sole goal came from Chingangbam Shivaldo Singh (77th minute).

The Malaysian team are preparing for the Under-23 Asian Cup in Doha, Qatar, next month.

Team manager Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar said their preparations have been going well despite missing key players (who are with the senior team for pre-World Cup) and training during the fasting month of Ramadan.

"Ramadan does not deter them from fully committing to the team. They performed well during the first test match against India, but a lot more needs to be improved."
