M'sian Gavin Kyle Green wins Mercuries Taiwan Masters; takes home US$160k

KUALA LUMPUR: Gavin Kyle Green recorded his maiden Asian Tour victory after shooting a 71 at the Mercuries Taiwan Masters for a four-day combined aggregate of nine-under-par 279, just moments ago.

Despite three-bogeys on the last day, Gavin’s consistent play of 67-70-71-71 was enough for a two-stroke lead over Brazilian Adilson Da Silva, Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent; and Keith Horne of South Africa and Filipino Juvic Pagunsan, who shared second.

The 24-year-old earned a hefty US$160,000 chunk of the US$800,000 prize purse on offer in Taiwan.

This puts him in the lead on the Asian Tour Order of Merit with US$527,346, a difference of US$110,417 from Australia’s Scott Hend, who is in second place.

Next on the Asian Tour calendar is the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship in Taipei on Oct 5-8.
