EVERY golfer has their day and today was not it for Gavin Kyle Green.
The 23-year-old professional, who was tied for second yesterday, recorded a disastrous round of 82 in the second-day of the CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges in South Korea.
Three consecutive double bogeys on the front nine matched with two consecutive double bogey plus two extra bogeys on the back nine killed Gavin’s game and brought him all the way down to tied 64th at four-over-par 148.
It was Luke List who stole the limelight as he birdied the ninth hole for a bogey-free 67 to take the solo lead after a second round of nine-under-par 135.
For the American, who is looking for his maiden win on the PGA Tour, this is the second time he has led or shared the lead through 36-holes of a Tour event.
Just one-stroke shy of List’s 135 are American Lucas Glover and Scott Brown at eight-under-par 136.
Three-time Tour winner Glover shot five-under-par 67 and is gunning for his first victory on Tour since winning the 2011 Wells Fargo Championship.
Brown birdied the final hole to move into a tie for second and is looking for his second victory on Tour to match his 2013 win at the Puerto Rico Open.
First round leader Justin Thomas shot 74 thanks to five bogeys and three birdies to push him down to joint fourth, next to Australian’s Cameron Smith.
The second round 74 is Thomas’ worst score since an 80 in the second round of the Open Championship.
The 72-hole stroke play inaugural event continues tomorrow where golfers will not only vie for the US$9.25million (RM39.1million) prize purse but also the 500 FedExCup points, two-year Tour exemption and an invitation to the 2018 Sentry Tournament of Champions.
