Gavin honoured at Asian Tour Awards Night

JAKARTA: Golfer Gavin Kyle Green capped his fine season on the Asian Tour this season by being voted the Tour's “Players' Player of the Year”.

The Malaysian notched his maiden victory at the Taiwan Masters and finished runner-up at the Indian Open, Yeangder Heritage in Taiwan and the Shinhan Donghae Open in South Korea en route to topping the Order of Merit with earnings of US$585,813 (RM2.4mil).

Gavin was honoured at the Asian Tour Awards Night on Sunday.

Besides the Players’ Player of the Year award, Gavin also won in the driving distance category after averaging 314.08 yards (287.2m) off the tees.

“It is an honour to receive the Players’ Player of the Year award which is recognition for all the hard work I’ve put in this year.

“This is another feather in the cap in my career and I will continue to work hard and strive for more success.

“I want to thank all the Asian Tour players who voted for me. This is a major highlight in my season and it is an acknowledgement which I will remember for many years to come,” said the 23-year-old Gavin, who turned pro in June 2015.
