Malaysian University score high in MHL

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian University outclassed debutants KL City 8-0 in the women's Malaysia Hockey League (MHL) at the Education Ministry Turf today.

The university team drew 1-1 with newcomers QNET Phoenix in their opening match on Thursday.

Nuramirah Shakirah Zulkifli scored a hat-trick (13th, 14th, 31st) for Malaysian University while Nuraslinda Said (first), Nurul Fatin Fatiah Azman (17th), Nur Zafirah Aziz (19th), Siti Nur Arfah Nor (36th) and Nurmaizatul Hanim Syafi Shiek Fuad (58th) were also on target.

Coach Lailin Abu Hassan said his players performed much better than their first match.

"We did not have the services of national player Kirandeep Kaur today as she was busy with her medical examinations. But she will be in action in the Charity Shield match against treble champions Negri Sembilan on Wednesday."

China's newcomers Liaoning Club continued their winning ways by outplaying CS Mustang 5-0 at the National Hockey Stadium. On Thursday, they thrashed Kedah 10-0.

Results: Kedah 0 QNET Phoenix 7, MSP-PHP-SSNP 0 PDRM Blue warriors 5, Negri Sembilan 6 Mutiara Impian 1, KL 0 Malaysian University 8, CS Mustang 0 Liaoning Club 5.
