Tenaga zap Young Elephants to move up to second in MHL

KUALA LUMPUR: Tenaga Nasional hammered newcomers Young Elephants 8-1 on Friday to move up to second spot in the Malaysia Hockey League (MHL).

South Korean Jang Jong Hyun emerged as the hero for Tenaga by scoring a hat-trick in the eight, 41st and 54th minutes at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil here.

For the record, the Korean international has scored seven goals in four matches to date.

Azrai Aizad Abu Kamal (sixth), Azril Misron (13th), Syed

Syafiq Syed Cholan (44th), Firhan Ashaari (53rd) and Shahril Saabah (56th) delivered the other goals.

Tengku Nasrul Ikmal Tengku Abd Rahim replied for Young Elephants in the 15th minute.

Tenaga have eight points with two wins and two draws.

However, Tenaga coach Nor Saiful Zaini is still not satisfied with his team's form.

Tenaga have 10 national players.

"Our national players are not performing at an optimum level.

" Although we won the Charity Shield match, we lost four valuable points against Maybank and Terengganu," said Saiful.

Results: Nurinsafi Sporting 5 UiTM 4, Terengganu 5 Liaoning Club 2, KL City 1 Armed Forces 3, JW Antbees 0 Maybank 10, Tenaga Nasional 8 Young Elephants Pahang 1.
