The Ice Comet aims to rise in Jakarta

KUALA LUMPUR: Audreylaura Boniface has earned her second fight in the ONE Championship Kings of Courage in Jakarta on Jan 20.

Audreylaura’s first appearance, which was also her last fight, was in Bangkok on March 11 where she was defeated by Japan’s Rika “Tinydoll” Ishige.

The 28-year-old MMA fighter, a medical practitioner by day, aims to redeem herself at the season-opener in Indonesia.

“I am fired up for a tough but fun training camp for Jakarta. I have continued my daily routine as well as spending time with my family, working and training with the team (Borneo Tribal Squad),” she said.

The Sabahan, nicknamed the Ice Comet, will meet Indonesia’s Priscilla Lumbangaol who has a 0-2 record.

“I watched Priscilla’s first two fights in One. She is a well-rounded fighter. She has learned muay thai, wushu and also jiujitsu. The best way to overcome this is to fully believe in myself. I have faith in me, always.”

“I have the ability to strike. It is going to be an awesome fight,” she said.

Audreylaura, who has two professional wins in One Silat, aims to begin the new year with a bang as she quotes boxing star, Conor McGregor.

“McGregor is right. You might win some, you might lose some but you go in, you challenge yourself, you become a better man, a better individual, a better fighter.”

Audreylaura is thus far the only Malaysian confirmed for the fight card where the main event will see Singapore’s Tiffany Teo take on China’s Xiong Jing Nan for the inaugural One Women’s Strawweight World Championship.
