KUALA LUMPUR: Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah ended the season and his career with Petronas Raceline on a high by finishing a commendable sixth in the Moto2 race at the Valencia Motorcycle Grand Prix today.
Hafizh, who qualified 11th, did well to work his way up the field and cross the line sixth, 14.595 seconds behind race winner Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Ajo). The latter won in 43 minutes and 15.843 seconds.
It was Hafizh's second sixth place finish in a row after Sepang a fortnight ago and was also his eighth top-ten result of the year.
Hafizh, who will be joining Petronas Sprinta Racing next season, ended the year in 10th place in the overall Moto2 standings on 106 points.
Idemitsu Honda Team Asia's Khairul Idham Pawi came in 25th (+1:10.070s) in Valencia, summing up what has been tough debut season for him in Moto2. He finished 27th in the overall Moto2 standings on 10 points.
In Moto3, SIC Racing Team's Adam Norrodin finished out of the points in 17th, crossing the line 16.398 seconds behind Jorge Martin of Del Conca Gresini who secured victory in 40:02.193s.
The 19-year-old admitted that it has been a tough weekend for him at Valencia.
"It was a struggle to find a good rhythm around this track," said Adam, who qualified 12th.
"We knew the race would be hard. I am disappointed not to finish the last race of the year in the points but looking back I am quite happy with the overall progress I have made."
Adam's SIC teammate Ayumu Sasaki fared better as he placed 13th (+8.687) for what was his eighth finish in the points this year, a commendable achievement with this being only his rookie season.
Adam ended the season in 17th place overall in the Moto3 standings with 42 points while Ayumu came in 20th on 32 points.
