Jackie Chan DC team secure 20th on Le Mans grid

LE MANS: World Endurance Championship (WEC) drivers Weiron Tan, Nabil Jeffri and Jazeman Jaafar will start 20th on the grid at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on Saturday.

The Jackie Chan DC Racing X Jota trio clocked a best lap of three minutes and 27.226 seconds in the third and final qualifying session (QP3) at Circuit de la Sarthe on Friday.

The team were placed 20th overall in all classes and 10th in their LMP2 division.

They had clocked 3:27.468s and 3:40.074s in QP1 and QP2 respectively.

Weiron Tan said they were held back by heavy traffic on the track but are still optimistic for Saturday's race.

"The team did a fantastic job, our aim wasn't to put the car on pole position but to build a good race car for the 24 Hours," said Weiron.

"Even in qualifying, it is so difficult to get a clear lap, you constantly have traffic."

The race starts at 3pm local time (9pm Malaysia) on Saturday and ends on the following day.

This is the first time an all-Malaysian driver car is competing in the race, which is considered the most challenging track endurance race in the world.

The trio, who are under the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) Driver Development Programme, are competing in their debut WEC season.
