AAM to set up inquiry on accident which killed CubPrix competitor

JOHOR BARU: AAM Motorsports Sdn Bhd (AAM) will set up an inquiry to investigate an accident which took the life of rider Mohd Hafiz Nor Azman during the CP150 final of the Petronas AAM Malaysian CubPrix Championship 2018 at Bandar Penawar, Kota Tinggi, yesterday.

“It was with great sadness that we received a notification of the death of CP150 rider competitor number 30, Mohd Hafiz, during the CP150 final.

“The circuit had been inspected by an Official Circuit Inspector on Dec 14 to ensure that all safety features and barriers were in place for the race,” AAM chairman Tunku Datuk Mudzaffar Tunku Mustapha said in a statement here, last night.

“We wish to convey our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mohd Hafiz,” he added.

Meanwhile, Kota Tinggi district police chief Superintendent Ahsmon Bajah confirmed receiving a report on the accident at about 6.30pm.

However, no details on the accident were provided.

Meanwhile, Johor Youth, Sports and Culture Committee chairman Mohd Khuzzan Abu Bakar also conveyed his condolences to Mohd Hafiz’s family.

The 22-year-old was the son of former CubPrix rider, Nor Azman Mad Darus.

This year, Mohd Hafiz represented Petronas Racing Team-CKJ in the CP150 category.
