Fauzan nails time trial

PUTRAJAYA: Time trial specialist Fauzan Ahmad Lutfi lived up to expectations after emerging victorious at the final leg of the National Road Cycling Championships in Putrajaya today.

Despite losing time after going off route momentarily due to a misunderstanding, the Police rider took a comfortable win in the men's elite class after completing the 30km course in 40 minutes and 3.890 seconds.

Terengganu Cycling Team's (TSG) Mohd Nor Umardi Rosdi and Akmal Hakim Zakaria (National Sports Council) came in second and third on 40:27:416s and 42:26:734s respectively.

Veteran Mariana Mohamad (Selangor) won the women's elite time trial on 34:30.348s while Sea Games bronze medallist Nurul Suhada Zainal (Police) and Terengganu's Aimi Iwasaki Muhamad Moritashi completed the podium after notching 35:43.021s and 35:58.567s.

It was, however, not a great achievement by the elite women as Nur Aisyah Mohd Zubir (Terengganu) had notched a faster 33:17.318s en route to winning the women's junior event, which was held over the same 22.2km route.
