Pandalela, Jun Hoong breeze into finals of World Aquatics Championships in Hungary

KUALA LUMPUR: Pandelela Rinong-Cheong Jun Hoong reached the final of the women's 10m platform synchro event at the World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary on Sunday.

Pandelela-Jun Hoong, the silver medallists at last year’s Rio Olympics, made the final by posting a commendable 309.66 total.

World Series champions Ren Qian-Si Yajie of China topped the standing with 334.32 points, followed by North Korea’s Kim Mi Rae-Kim Kuk Hyang (325.62) and Australia’s Taneka Koychenko-Melissa Wu (311.16).

The final, comprising 12 pairs, will be held later today.

"Pandelela-Jun Hoong performed well today, but they will need to tighten up their routines for the final," said national coach Yang Zhuliang.

"Winning gold will be tough, but I believe my pair have a chance of taking silver or bronze later today," Yang added.
