KUALA LUMPUR: National boxer Muhammad Fuad Mohd Redzuan eased into the final of the men's under-49kg category at the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games (KL2017) today.
Fuad suffered a nose injury after taking a direct blow early in the first round but bounced back strongly to overcome Lasavongsy Bounpone of Laos in their semi-final bout.
The Negri Sembilan-born said he had already studied his opponent's game prior to the fight.
"Everything went to plan today. He (Lasavongsy) came out very aggressively and I took the opportunity to defend and counter attack," said the 26-year-old.
"My coach and I had already done our research and found a few areas we could score easy points.
"The target was to win a silver medal here but after this win, I feel more confident. I want to win it (gold) for all Malaysians".
Fuad added that he will use the rest-day prior to the final on Thursday to study his next opponent.
