KL2017: Rory Thor crashes out in first round of Sea Games snooker competition

KUALA LUMPUR: Rory Thor Chuan Leong's exposure in the World Snooker Tour failed to spark the desired outcome as he crashed out in the first round of the Sea Games snooker competition on Thursday.

All hopes were on Rory to retain his gold medal but instead, he was a bundle of nerves in the 4-0 (85-16, 66-17, 81-45, 69-41) defeat to Thailand's Phaithoon Phonbun.

Malaysia still have a representative in Moh Keen Hoo, who will play 2015 Singapore Sea Games silver medallist Ko Htet in the first round tomorrow.

In women's pool, Suhana Dewi Sabtu and Klaudia Djajalie defied the odds to reach the semi-finals of the women's pool nine-ball event.

Suhana defeated Singapore's Hoe Shu Wah 7-6 while Klaudia thrashed Myanmar's Aye Mi Aung 7-2 in their respective quarter-final matches

National pool champion Ibrahim Amir was shown the door in the men's nine-ball singles event, losing 9-7 to Indonesia's Irsal Affrinneza Nasution.
