Second gold within Li Jane's grasp but...

KUALA LUMPUR: National women elite kegler, Sin Li Jane almost clinched Malaysia’s second gold medal in the 2017 World Bowling Championship held in Las Vegas, United States but had to contend with the silver in the women’s Masters event on Monday (Tuesday in Malaysia).

In the final match at South Point Bowling Centre in Las Vegas, Li Jane put up a strong fight but couldn’t tame her opponent, losing 225-256, 221-236 to defending champion Jung Da-wun of South Korea.

However, Li Jane ‘s efforts ensured that Malaysia ended its world championship campaign with style by bagging one gold and three silver medals. Malaysia won two silver and one bronze at the Abu Dhabi edition in 1999.

Yesterday, the national women’s tenpin bowling team including Li Jane, Shalin Zulkifli, Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman, Syaidatul Afifah Badrul Hamidi and Natasha Roslan ended a 10-year drought to win the gold medal in the team of five event.

Malaysia won the silver medal through Shalin and Li Jane in the women’s doubles event while Siti Safiyah delivered the other silver in the women’s all events. -- Bernama
