Juwaidi, Sazatul make final at Asia Cup

KUALA LUMPUR: National compound archers Juwaidi Mazuki and Sazatul Nadhirah Zakaria did well to advance to the final of their respective events at the first leg of the Asia Cup in Bangkok on Tuesday.

Juwaidi, a gold medallist at the 2015 and 2017 Sea Games, downed Russian Anton Bulaev and will take on Russian Alexander Dambaev in the final on Wednesday.

"I hope to continue my good form in the final. This is the first tournament we are competing in as part of our preparations for the Indonesia Asian Games," said Juwaidi.

In the women’s event, Fatin Nurfatehah Mat Salleh was edged by India's Muskan Kirar in the semi-finals. Muskan won 148-144.

Sazatul Nadhirah downed Russia's Mariia Vinogradova 141-138 in the other semi-final encounter.

In the men’s recurve, Haziq Kamaruddin failed in the semi-finals, losing to Frenchman Thomas Chirault 7-3. Haziq will face Gaurav Trambak Lambe of India for the bronze medal.
