Don't give up and continue the good work, Sarawak bodybuilders told

KUCHING: Bodybuilders should be given due recognition and respect for their dedication in the sport, Sarawak Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian said today.

"Body building is an expensive sport, particularly when it comes to diet. They need to take protein-rich diet and supplements.

"Besides, bodybuilders are surely very disciplined people as they need to stick to strict training plan and control their cravings. It’s not an easy job.

"Their efforts in making this sport more than just a hobby need to be recognised and respected," he said.

Speaking at the launch of the Mr Kuching 2018 here, Dr Sim said the athletes had also made numerous sacrifices in order to reach their goal.

"I believe some of them in the industry have gone through various hardship and sacrifices and some even face financial challenges. Thus, I will try to do what I can to support this sport," he said.

"Don’t give up and continue the good work," he added.

Dr Sim encouraged those who are interested in body building to pursue their dream and do it the right way, with

proper diet and training.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Bodybuilding Association (SBBA) president Datuk Wee Hong Seng said the competition for Kuching Zone, has attracted more than 20 participants from Kuching, Serian, Bau, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong and Saratok.
