KUALA LUMPUR: The tour of Argentina on May 21-June 3 will be a platform for national coach Stephen Van Huizen to gauge his trainees for the Indonesia Asian Games in August.

World No 12 Malaysia will play six friendly matches against the reigning Olympic champions.

“Every trainee will be assessed accordingly. I will give everyone chances to play in Argentina,” said Stephen today.

“The tour will also offer those who did not play at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games due to various reasons a chance to make an impression.”

On goalkeeper S. Kumar, who has returned from a doping suspension, Stephen said he will need work hard in all aspects.

“Other keepers in the squad are Hafizuddin Othman and Hairi Abd Rahman.

“I hope to bring 20 players to Argentina. However, this is pending the Malaysian Hockey Confederation’s approval,” he added.
