ESM president denies claim of internal issues

KUALA LUMPUR: eSports Malaysia (ESM) founder and president Datuk Latt Shariman Abdullah has denied claims of instability in his association.

“There are no internal issues and we are working closely with the National Sports Council (NSC) and the IeSF (International eSport Federation),” said Latt.

He was responding to recent comments by Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman who claimed that ESM need to be reformed.

Latt claimed that there are no political agendas in ESM and clarified that his involvement in politics ended in 2013.

“Our committee members come from various political backgrounds but it is not an issue.

ESM, established in 2015, is now preparing and identifying athletes for tournaments.

“We (ESM) have had success except for some teething problems such as issues with ESM- sanctioned tournaments failing to pay winners their prize money.

“We have since added tighter conditions in the process of endorsing tournaments,” Latt added.
