Bowling debutante Natasha makes smashing start

Debutante Natasha Roslan made a smashing start in the AMF World Cup by topping the opening day of the women’s competition in Palembang yesterday.

The 23-year-old blazed the Jakabaring Sports City lanes with a six-game total of 1,306 pinfalls.

American Kelly Kulick took second spot with a 1,293 total while Brazil’s Stephanie Martins finished third on 1,235.

Natasha said: “I am quite happy with today’s (yesterday) result. However, I do not want to get too excited as this is only the first day.

“I will try to remain calm and focus on the remaining qualifying games,” said Natasha.

In the men’s competition, Adrian Ang had a poor start, finishing 24th with a 1,196 total.

The 31-year-old will need to up his game if he hopes to make the top-24 cut for the next round.

“I did what I could for the first six games. It is not the best start but I’m glad that it is not the worst either,” said Adrian, who is competing in his third World Cup edition.

“The lanes are very tricky, so I will need to make swift changes during my games in the remaining days.”

In the previous editions, Adrian finished 17th in 2006 (Venezuela) and 23rd in 2011 (South Africa).
