KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Junior Hockey League (MJHL) champions BJSS Thunderbolts will be eyeing a double when they take on former winners SSTMI Thunderbolts in the MJHL Cup final at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil tomorrow.
In today's semi-finals, BJSS edged SMKDBL-PHJ-MSNJ 2-1 courtesy of goals from Amirul Haniff Mamat (sixth minute) and Farishshah Fauzian (26th).
SMKDBL-PHJ-MSN replied through Alfarico Lance Liau Jr in the 51st minute.
In the other semi-final, SSTMI overcame AHP-SSP-MSP Thunderbolts 2-0.
BJSS will start as favourites in the final as they had thrashed SSTMI 3-0 en route to winning the league title last week.
BJSS captain Wan Najmie Ahmad Dzaib believes his side have an advantage against 2019 champions SSTMI.
"We are glad to advance to the final. In 2019, we were knocked out in the quarter-finals, so we have reached the final this time. We are quite excited," said Najmie.
"In the semi-final, we made some mistake and allowed SMKDBL-PHJ-MSNJ to score a goal. We must learn from this and improve ahead of the final.
"SSTMI are the 2019 champions, and they have several national players in the team. However, we are not afraid of them. We had defeated them in the league.
"We have a lot of youngsters in the team but, I don't think it will be an issue for us in the final."
Meanwhile, SSTMI scored through Hazree Alief Rosli (50th) and Akhimullah Anuar Esook (54th) in their semi-final win over AHP-SSP-MSP.
SSTMI skipper Saiful Sharil Saiful Bahri said they will be on a mission for revenge after losing to BJSS in the league.
"We know BJSS are strong, and we will not look down on them. Although we have seven national players, it will not be an easy game,"
"The final is an opportunity for us to win a title this season," he said.
