Tze Liang delivers Malaysia's third Sea Games gold in Hanoi

KUALA LUMPUR: There's just no stopping diving ace Ooi Tze Liang.

The 28-year-old stamped his class to win the men's 1m springboard individual at the My Dinh Aquatics Centre today to bring his overall Sea Games gold medal count to 13.

It was also Malaysia's third title at the Hanoi Sea Games.

Tze Liang amassed 377.70 points over six dives, winning by a whopping 90 points from second-placed Avvir Tham (286.40) of Singapore.

It was also a memorable debut for 18-year-old Betrand Rhodict as he came in third with a 284.90 total.

For Tze Liang, he has also now completed a full collection of gold medals in all five Sea Games events.

The 1m springboard individual was the only gold that Tze Liang had not won prior to the Hanoi edition.

Since his debut in 2011, he has won the 3m springboard individual and the 3m springboard synchro four times each, twice in 10m plattform individual and once in 10m platform synchro.

He came close five years ago in Kuala Lumpur but was pipped by teammate Ahmad Amsyar Azman.
