Negri out to wrest national under-16 title from Penang

KUALA LUMPUR: Penang girls will defend their National Under-16 title against Negri Sembilan at the National Hockey Stadium tomorrow.

Penang hammered Perak 6-0 in the semi-finals today while Negri beat Melaka 3-1.

Penang coach Leo Vincey said they will also field this Under-16 team for this season's Junior Hockey League (JHL) while their second set of players will form a second team.

"It was a comprehensive win in the semi-finals, and we are one match away from defending our title won before the MCO (Movement Control Order).

"Our plan now is to field two teams in the JHL, one is our Under-16 side and the other made up of 15 and below players," said Leo.

In the boys' semi-finals, Pahang and Selangor beat Negri and Perak 4-0 and 2-0 respectively.
