Negri Sembilan cagers complete domination of Agong's Cup

KUALA LUMPUR: Negri Sembilan left no room for drama as they secured their sixth consecutive MABA-MJ Health Agong's Cup title with an emphatic 87-73 win over Johor in the men's final tonight.

Johor came out firing and were able to match Negri early on, trailing Negri by only three points (21-24) going into the first break at the MABA stadium.

Negri, however, put their foot down from the second quarter onwards and ended the second (46-33) and third periods (64-52) comfortably in the lead before sealing the win in the fourth.

Negri captain Wong Yi Hou was named most valuable player after netting 30 points in the final.

Yi Hou was visibly delighted after the match.

"It was an amazing match," said Yi Hou.

"There was a lot of pressure on us to win it for the sixth time in a row.

"We needed to handle that pressure and take our game to the next level."

Yi Hou has been part of all six of Negri's Agong's Cup winning squads.

Earlier today, Negri Sembilan also bagged the Agong's Cup title in the women's category after they downed Selangor 81-49 in their final round robin match.

Both Negri's men's and women's squads took home RM18,000 prize money each.
