Syafiq first player to be expelled

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall's (DBKL) Syafiq Abdullah became the first player to be sent off in the Junior Hockey League (JHL).

He was flashed the red card in a Division Two Group B match against KL Sikh Sports and Recreation Club at the DBKL Stadium today.

Syafiq was first shown the green card by umpire Fakaruddin Abdul Azieh in the 37th minute. But the unhappy player then used abusive words against the umpire, who then flashed him the red card.

KL Sikh took the lead as early as in the second minute through Amanraj Singh. DBKL, despite being down to 10 players, fought back in the last 20 minutes to score two goals through Shahmie Irfan Suhaimi (41st and 56th minutes).

The Bukit Jalil Sports School Juniors thrashed the National Hockey Development Programme-Penang Under-16 team 7-0 to surge to the top of Division Two Group A.

Sirhan Rahim (13th), Gagandeep Singh (22nd), Izz Ilhan Ridzuan (23rd), Aferull Syah Ahmad (27th), Ahmad Ariff Daniel Shahrein (42nd), Hafiz Sukkeri (49th) and Amirul Syahmi Khazlin (50th) scored the goals at the Bertam Hockey Stadium in Penang.

In another Group A match, MSSPP-PSHA registered their third win by beating SSN Perak-MSN 4-2 at Gunung Rapat Stadium in Ipoh.

Jayrish Shaffin Jamalsafri (fifth, 15th minutes) scored a brace for the Penang team. Faiz Nafis Farid (40th) and Zaeem Nor Lizam (53rd) contributed the other goals. Danish Ahmad Rizal(38th) and Ammar Rusyaidi Zulkaflee (57th) replied for Perak.
