KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will battle Australia for the 11th spot at the men's World Team Squash Championship after losing 2-1 to the Czech Republic in today's classification match in Tauranga, New Zealand.
Addeen Idrakie gave Malaysia the lead with a hard-fought 12-10, 9-11, 11-8, 11-9 win over Viktor Byrtus in the first match.
However, the Czechs levelled when Daniel Mekbib defeated Sanjay Jeeva 11-6, 8-11, 11-9, 11-6 in 50 minutes.
Jakub Solnicky secured victory for the Czechs, overcoming Malaysia's C. Ameeshenraj 11-9, 11-1, 11-8.
Addeen said: "We gave our best on the court. Unfortunately, it was not our day.
"We need to be calmer against Australia tomorrow."
