Ameeshenraj saves the day for Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Youngster C. Ameeshenraj emerged as the hero for Malaysia, clinching the winning point in the 2-1 triumph over Ireland in their opening Group A match at the men's World Team Squash Championship in Tarunga, New Zealand.

In the opening match, Malaysia's Addeen Idrakie lost 11-9, 11-4, 11-6 to Sam Buckley at Devoy Glass Court.

But United States-based Sanjay Jeeva levelled the score for Malaysia with a 11-9, 11-7, 11-3 win over Sean Conroy.

The 19-year-old Ameeshenraj then defeated Oisin Logan 11-9, 11-4, 11-4 to give Malaysia a good start.Malaysia will face five-time champions Egypt tomorrow.
