Esports stakeholders converge at EsportsCon Malaysia

PUCHONG: The esports community, which is fast growing in the country, gathered en masse at the inaugral EsportsCon Malaysia held at ESI Hub, Spacerubix here today.

The one-day convention, which is co-organised by the Sports Ministry and Esports Intergrated (ESI), brought together key opinion leaders (KOL), game developers and equipment brands, universities as well as gamers from all walks of life.

Close to 30 exhibitors took part in the event.

As of 1pm today, more than 500 people had attended the event and over 1,000 are expected by the end of the day.

ESI chief executive producer Ahmed Faris Amir said the main objective of the convention is to promote discussion among esport stakeholders.

"It is a celebration of esports, we wanted to bring everyone together," said Faris.

"We are hosting several programmes today, the first was a meet and greet session and discussion with KOLs

"We will also have a panel discussing the National Esports Development Guidelines (NESDEG) as well high performance esports as well.

"We are hoping to make EsportsCon Malaysia an annual event."

Among the KOLs that took part in the event included MamaJess, King Yonny, Sultan Riq and SleepyGodzillas.

The quartet also played a number of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang! (MLBB) exhibition matches with members of the public who attended the convention.
