MAS look to resolve 'entity' issue, investigation set to begin

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Aquatics (MAS) are set to begin an investigation into claims made by national diver Pandelela Rinong recently.

MAS held an internal post-mortem session which lasted over three hours in Bukit Jalil today, following the national diving squad's dismal performance at the Doha World Aquatics Championships last week.

Pandelela had on Monday told the media that "something happened" which had affected the national team, though did not delve into details.

This sparked speculation as to what 'entity" she was referring to.

MAS honorary secretary Andy Low said the national body have discussed the issue and were looking to get to the root of the matter.

"We had a comprehensive discussion today which involved the coaches as well as the technical director. We looked at all the issues," said Andy during a press conference held after the meeting.

"We discussed the good and the bad, our strong points and our weak points. It was a fruitful discussion.

"I am sorry but I am not able to disclose in detail what was discussed.

"What I can say is that we will investigate the matter brought up (by Pandelela) and once the investigation is concluded, we will inform you (of findings).

"I have already met with Pandelela this morning and I listened to what she had to say. We will now investigate."

The national squad, comprising 13 divers, had a dismal outing at the Doha World Aquatics Championships which doubled up as an Olympic qualifier.

No Malaysian diver secured qualification to the Paris Olympics at the event.
