Decent showing from Jayden as Malaysia concludes Doha campaign

KUALA LUMPUR: Jayden Tan emerged as the fastest Southeast Asian swimmer in his event at the Doha World Aquatics Championships today.

The 19-year-old clocked four minutes and 25.16 seconds to place third in his heat and 18th overall in the men's 400m individual medley preliminaries.

It was not too far off his own national record of 4:23.24s which he had set at the Cambodia Sea Games last year.

Only the top-eight in the preliminaries made the cut for the final.

United States' David Johnston (4:12.51s), Great Britain's Max Litchfield (4:12.54s) and Japan's Daiya Seto (4:13.06s) rounded out the top-three.

Jayden is the last swimmer to compete for Malaysia in this edition of the world championships.

The swimming event will conclude tomorrow.
