Pengiran powers to 200m bronze at Asian Under-20

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia won their second medal in the Asian Under-20 Athletics Championships through Pengiran Aidil Auf Hajam in Dubai yesterday.

The Sabahan won the 200m bronze with a personal best time of 21.28s. Last year, he also finished third in the Asian Under-20 meet in South Korea.

Thailand's Wirayut Daenkhanob won the gold by posting 20.84 while Magnus Prostur Joha of Hong Kong 20.92 settled for silver.

Earlier Ng Tak Sing won Malaysia's first medal, a bronze, in the four-day meet through the boys' triple jump.

An elated Pengiran said he not only clinched a medal but qualified for the World Under-20 Junior Championships in Lima, Peru, in August.

Pengiran will run in the 4x100m final later today with Hanseen Yap, Dexter Bedie and Sayyid Amin Roslan.

Izzatul Musfirah finished eighth and last in the girls' 200m final with a time of 24.89.
