Messages of condemnation flood online, following Jakarta blast

KUALA LUMPUR: Less than an hour after the deadly bombing in Kampung Melayu, Jakarta, messages began to pour in on social media with the hashtag #PrayForJakarta.

In Twitter and Facebook, netizens around the world have roundly condemned the latest terror attack.

Some users posted images of #PrayForJakarta while some conveyed their condolences and urged the people of Jakarta to stay safe.

A twitter user Aureen Quiapon‏ said that she was sorry that people tend to be heartless these days.

“People nowadays just tend to be more heartless than ever and because of that I am sorry #PrayForJakarta,” she posted.

Another user Anissa‏ posted that even Jakarta, a Muslim country was affected by bombing, which proves that terrorism has no religion.

“You see the world tweeting about the bomb attack in Indonesia? A Muslim country? #TerrorismHasNoReligion #PrayForJakarta, “ she said.

While, twitter user Serena extended her prayer to the people in Jakarta.

“Oh my goodness, this is terrible. My prayers go out to everyone in the area. Words cannot do much but please stay safe!! #PrayForJakarta,” she said.

In the meantime, a Facebook user Norman Goh called upon the world to stand up against the extremism.

“From Manchester to Marawi city. Then suicide bomber hits Jakarta. #PrayForMarawi #PrayForJakarta. It's time for us to stand up against it!,” he posted.

Another user, Reshika Park urged the hideous act of terror to be stopped.

“I hope it could be stopped ASAP. This is why I say, hatred would never be an answer. The bomb exploded twice and people can find part of human bodies scattered on the street,” she said.
