JAKARTA: An Indonesian minister tested positive for Covid-19.
Transport Minister Budi Karya Sumadi was named as the 76th case and currently being treated at the Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital in Jakarta.
It was announced by the Minister of State Secretariat of Indonesia Prof Dr Pratikno in a press conference which was broadcast live on local television stations tonight.
“With permission (of the family), the 76th case is Budi Karya Sumadi, the Minister of Transport,” Dr Pratikno said.
Budi Karya, 63, has held the position since 2016.
Since Indonesia recorded its first Covid-19 positive case on March 2, the number of cases in the republic has increased to 96, with five deaths thus far. -- BERNAMA
