Covid-19 kills leading Brazil indigenous chief Aritana

BRASÍLIA: One of Brazil's leading indigenous chiefs, Aritana Yawalapiti, died Wednesday of respiratory complications caused by COVID-19, said his nephew.

Aritana, a chief of the Yawalapiti people in the Amazon, who was around 70 years old, was known for fighting to protect indigenous rights and the world's biggest rainforest.--AFP
