Jordan welcomes Gaza humanitarian truce extension

AMMAN: The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the two-day extension of the humanitarian truce deal in the Gaza Strip, Jordan news agency (Petra) reported.

The Ministry commended Qatar for its diplomatic efforts in collaboration with Egypt and the United States (US) in order to achieve this extension.

The Ministry's spokesperson, Sufyan Qudah underscored the significance of this extension, as an important step toward ending the war on the Gaza Strip and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestinian brothers in all areas of the Strip.

This, in turn, aims to secure their continued residence in their homes and prevent forced displacement, he added.

Earlier, international news reported Qatar announced late Monday that the humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip will be extended for an additional two days.

A four-day humanitarian truce entered into force last Friday at 7 am following attacks and aggression against the besieged Gaza Strip since Oct 7.

The ongoing conflict has left over 15,000 civilians killed, including 6,150 children and over 4,000 women, and more than 36,0000 wounded. – BERNAMA
