NEW DELHI: A man in India now possesses the hands of a woman after undergoing a rare double limb transplant.

The recipient was a painter and received the organs from Meena Mehta, a woman who had been declared brain dead but had pledged to donate her organs following her death, according to Dr S.S. Gambhir, a senior plastic surgeon who was involved in the operation.

It was the first such procedure in New Delhi, according to the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, where the operation was conducted.
