Keep calm and carry on... Taiwan news anchors rocked by earthquake during live broadcast [NSTTV]

TAIPEI: The powerful earthquake that struck Taiwan on Wednesday (April 3) was captured by the cameras in a several newsrooms during their live broadcast. As the quake hit, anchors on air kept speaking and delivering news while the studio was visibly shaken and lights swaying violently overhead.

Taiwan's biggest earthquake in at least 25 years killed nine people and injured more than 1,000, while 50 workers travelling in minibuses to a hotel in a national park were missing.

Some buildings tilted at precarious angles in the mountainous, sparsely populated county of Hualien, near the epicenter of the 7.2 magnitude quake, which struck just offshore at about 8am and triggered massive landslides.

The quake hit at a depth of 15.5km, just as people were headed for work and school, setting off a tsunami warning for southern Japan and the Philippines that was later lifted. — Reuters
