Thailand temporarily exempts tourists from submitting arrival and departure cards

BANGKOK: Foreign nationals will temporarily be exempted from submitting the TM.6 Form when entering or exiting Thailand at the immigration checkpoints effective April 15 to Oct 15.

Deputy Government spokesperson Karom Phonphonklang said the decision is aimed at stimulating tourism and to reduce congestion at the checkpoints.

"This is to facilitate convenience for tourists during this period. It is aimed at stimulating tourism and the economy, as well as to reduce congestion at the immigration checkpoints," he told reporters after the Cabinet meeting here today.

He said the Foreign Ministry has drafted an announcement of the Interior Ministry to allow certain categories of foreigners to enter Thailand as special cases without having to submit the TM.6 Form during the period.

The TM.6 Form is a document used to collect information about foreign visitors for the purpose of inspection and monitoring, aimed at maintaining the country's security.

Therefore, Karom said relevant security agencies in Thailand will be responsible for monitoring and assessing the impact of the announcement after the six-month period.

"If there are any impacts on national security and benefits, these agencies may propose for its cancellation to the Cabinet," he said. - Bernama
